I have a folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Windows Performance Toolkit" in Windows10 Home x64 1909 build 18363.1082 and after I ran the command "xbootmgr -trace boot -prepSystem -verboseReadyBoot" that folder contains now 7 large cab and 7 etl protected windows system files mixed with many other WPT system files (dll). When I cleaned up this mess my system crashed so the etl files are actively linked to my windows prefetch folder and never be touched. After I restored the etl files (recycle bin) my system booted up OK again. Question: Why are active system database files (etl) mixed with WPTK program files and not stored separately in the Windows Prefetch folder, are these cab and etl files in the WPTK folder properly maintained (refreshed after a new run with xbootmgr) or will it grow to a large folder with big redundant files? Is there an app available to manage the WPTK database?
